ILUVIEN releases a medication in small, controlled doses. While every patient is different, your doctor may recommend ILUVIEN for you.
ILUVIEN is a prescription medication that is inserted in the eye by a retina specialist and has its risks.

Most common adverse reactions
In clinical trials, the MOST COMMON adverse reactions reported were:
Treatment: If a cataract develops, your vision will decrease, and you will need an operation to remove the cataract and restore your vision.
Treatment: If you experience a rise in pressure within the eye, the increase in pressure may need to be managed with eye drops or surgery. Usually, there are no symptoms of increased eye pressure. For this reason, your doctor will want to routinely monitor you after treatment. If left untreated, increased eye pressure may progress to glaucoma.

Treatment/Resolution: Antibiotics for the eye can be administered to manage this occurrence. Tell your doctor if the eye becomes red, sensitive to light, painful or develops a change in vision after ILUVIEN.
Treatment: Retinal detachments can be treated with surgery. Visual results are best if the retinal detachment is repaired before the macula (the center region of the retina1 responsible for fine, detailed vision) detaches. That is why it is important to contact an eye care professional immediately if you see a sudden or gradual increase in the number of floaters and/or light flashes, or a dark curtain over the field of vision.
Resolution: Do not drive or operate machinery until this blurriness has resolved.

Who should not use ILUVIEN?
- Do not use ILUVIEN if you have or think you might have an infection in or around the eye.
- ILUVIEN should not be used if you have advanced glaucoma.
- You should not use ILUVIEN if you are allergic to any ingredients of ILUVIEN.
